Silver Slipper Casino workers were trapped in flood waters in Bay St Louis, Mississippi. Tropical Storm Cristobal forced a rescue at the casino over the weekend.

Tropical Storm Cristobal is the third storm this season. Bay St Louis, MS was not spared from the storm.
Evacuation warnings were issued and most people managed to withstand the storm. Additionally, hurricanes are common in the Gulf Coast region. The Rescue of Casino Workers
Silver Slipper Casino workers were not able to get out of the casino in time because the flood water moved faster. Despite warnings being given, they were trapped because they could not move out of the casino on time. Also, the casino tried to get workers to the parking lot using a shuttle but it failed due to the flood waters.
Hancock Country first responders were sent to the scene. The first responders rescued over 100 workers. The rescue operation took over four hours to be complete.
The Silver Slipper casino was built on terra firma in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the first casino. Also, the casino is the first to be built on land in the Mississippi Gulf.
The Mississippi Gaming Commission and the state legislature worked together and introduced new land based casino laws.Also, this was after the barge was destroyed. In the past, casinos were only allowed to operate on barges and riverboats. However, casinos operators are now allowed to build casinos on land. Additionally, they are allowed to build no less than 800 feet from the shore.
